VOCABULARY for Expository Writing

Expository writing is a genre of writing that is used to explain, to describe, or to provide information.

This week our students will be discussing water conservation and writing about ways to conserve water at home.  Help your child come up with a list of ways that you can conserve water to help him/her with this assignment.

conserve-to use or manage(natural resources) wisely; preserve; save


drought-a period of dry weather, especially a long one that can damage crops and water supplies


faucet-any device for controlling the flow of liquid from a pipe or the like by opening or closing a tap


reserves-to set apart for a particular use, purpose, or service


natural resources-the natural wealth of a country, consisting of land, forests, mineral deposits, water, etc.
