Spelling Words for Week of January 28-February 1

This week for Spelling, we will continue to work with root words and their affixes. Specifically we will be looking at words ending in “ed” or “ing.” The students will need to look at the root word and make note of the words in which the spelling does not change, the words with a silent e dropped before adding the suffix, and words in which the final consonants are doubled before adding “ed or ing.”

Remember to click on our Spelling City Link to practice your spelling on your computer, Smartphone, iPod, iPad, or Android Device.

This Week’s Scheduled Events

Our children will be taking six weeks tests this week. We will take the math test on Monday, Reading on Wednesday, and Writing-Revision/Editing on Thursday.  Make ups will be held on Tuesday and Friday.  It is very important that all children be at school for these tests so that we can get the accurate information to help our students be successful.

Due to computer issues last week, we will take our spelling test one afternoon next week. Students they will need to review the Unit 5 word list.  Remember you can go directly to the Spelling City site from the widget located in the sidebar of this blog and practice with games to help learn these words.  No new spelling words will be sent home this week.

Finally, we will be scheduling a room mother’s meeting shortly after the Thanksgiving holidays to plan for our Christmas parties.

Thanks for your help and support.
